Cavalier Connect Day

Get connected at one of our summer orientation events!

Your first semester at Montreat is just around the corner! We welcome you and your family to join us as we discuss what the fall semester will look like and how you can thrive as a new Montreat student. Dive into the heart of your academic career! During this orientation event, students will connect with Faculty Advisors, get personalized assistance in completing the Journey to Fall Tasklist, and bond with future classmates.

NOTE: Students will not be formally guided through class registration at this event. To best prepare for this event, students are encouraged to complete as many Journey to Fall Tasklist items as possible.

To ensure a smooth transition into college life, this event is mandatory for all new students.

Cavalier Connect Day FAQs

Will I be able to see my dorm room during the event?
While we plan to have residence halls open for viewing, it may not be your exact room assignment. However, most of our dormitories share similar layouts and dimensions, which will allow you to take measurements and begin planning what to bring for move-in.

When will I find out my housing assignment?
Housing assignments are issued after students complete the housing form on the Journey to Fall Tasklist and submit their enrollment deposit. Assignments are released in batches, with notifications beginning in mid-June.

If I’ve already completed my Journey to Fall Tasklist, do I still need to attend Cav Connect Day?
Yes. Cav Connect Day is about much more than Tasklist completion. It offers a valuable opportunity to immerse yourself in the Montreat community, engage with faculty advisors, and build relationships that will support your academic and personal success. Attendance at one Cav Connect Day is required for all new students.

What if I live far from campus?
We believe each visit to campus helps you feel more at home, and we look forward to welcoming you. We understand the challenges of long-distance travel, though, and we’re here to support you. If you live more than 400 miles from campus, please contact your Admissions Counselor to discuss available options for fulfilling the Cav Connect Day requirement.

Do I have to be fully registered for classes before attending the event?
No, you do not need to be fully registered for classes before the event. However, we encourage you to complete the Blackboard course on registration to familiarize yourself with the process. If possible, try adding a few classes to your schedule in advance to help you feel more prepared when you attend.

Will I meet with my Academic Advisor at Cav Connect?
All students will meet with an Academic Advisor from their program department, though it may not be your assigned advisor. Each faculty member is well-equipped to assist you with any registration-related questions.

Will I be able to set up a payment plan during the event?
Yes! During our afternoon Cavalier One Stop Shop, families will receive hands-on support with every step of the Journey to Fall Tasklist—including financial matters. Our Student Financial Services team will be available to assist with setting up payment plans and answering any related questions.
